For the 1562 Czech edition of Mattioli's Commentaries on the Materia Medica of Dioscorides, Georgio Liberale of Udine and Wolfgang Meyerpeck made large woodblocks from pear wood. Many of these blocks have survived, including the one of the common English daisy shown here.
